Obituary for Cyril Guardiola Kelly Jr.

Cyril Guardiola  Kelly Jr.
Cyril Guardiola Kelly, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the age of 87. A native of New Orleans, Mr. Kelly is the son of the late Cyril, G. Sr. and Stella Borel Kelly. He grew up in the 7th ward and attended McDonogh 35 High School and later served in the United States Army as a medic in the Korean war where he received 3 bronze stars for his distinguished service. Mr. Kelly leaves to cherish precious memories his loving wife, companion and soulmate for 63 years, Mrs. Doris Kelly; siblings, Harold (Vergie), Mackie (Joyce) and Julia Kelly, Carolyn King (Oliver), Doris Foy (James), Bernice Cardwell and Alfred Brown. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in law, other devoted family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kelly was also preceded in death by four siblings, Robert and Elise Kelly, Lorraine Petite, Barbara Dunn and one niece, Valerie Petite Wilson. Relatives and friends; Priest and Parishoners of Corpus Christi/ Epiphany Catholic Church; Members of Longshore Workers Union Local #1419; Patrons and staff of Kelly School of Dance; Alumni of McDonogh 35 High School; Officers and members of The Autocrat and The Zulu Social Aide and Pleasure Club; Staff and Employees of Davita Dialysis and the Kerlerec Street neighborhood are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian burial honoring Mr. Kelly will be celebrated at Corpus Christi/Epiphany Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Avenue on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10 AM. Interment St. Roch Cemetery. Visitation 9 AM IN THE CHURCH. The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Veterans Administration Medical Center and Davita Dialysis for the exemplery care given to our loved one.
