Obituary for Lula Cook (Johnson)

Lula Johnson Cook 94, died peacefully in the arms of Our Lord, Jesus, Saturday, January 27, 2018. She was four days away from her 95th birthday. She was completely dedicated to her husband, of 67 years, Silas J. Cook, Sr., children, grand and great grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was cooking, reading and gardening. She spent many hours volunteering her time to children and the elderly. She was a native of Andalusia, Alabama. She lived in New Orleans 58 years. After Hurricane Katrina she lived with her son, and then with her daughter, Greta. She is survived by her three children, Claudia Cook Jamil, Greta Cook Auzenne and Silas J. Cook, Jr (Monique). Grandchildren , Mabel A. Dupre, Clayton J. Auzenne, Jr. (Rebecca), Kelli Cook Morrell (Nicholas), Laure Cook Felix (Williams). Great- grandchildren, Alis Marie Morrell, Liam Silas Auzenne, Alivia Monique Morrell, Knight Williams Felix and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Silas J. Cook, Sr., parents Sanford Johnson and Pastoria Hendrieth Johnson, her brothers Arthur, Douglas, Herbert and Ernest. Sisters Jewel Johnson Hewlett, Minnie Johnson Harris and Alice Johnson Jones. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at 10:00 AM , Friday, February 2, 2018 Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Transfiguration of Our Lord Catholic Church (formerly St. Raphael) 2212 Prentiss Ave (Elysian Fields Ave.). Interment St. Louis #3 Cemetery , 3421 Esplanade Ave.
