Obituary for Edward Fields Johnson

Edward Fields Johnson, Sr. 79 a retired teacher of Phillis Wheatly and Edward Haynes Elementary Schools, departed form this life peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2018 at home. He was the first born to the late Rev. Sherifield and Olevia Johnson. He graduated from South Down High School in Houma, LA. Received a B. A. degree from Dillard University, a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and Taxicab owner on Sunset's line. He is survived by wife, Lovida Johnson, children Edward, Jr., Eldred and Lakisha. Seven grandchildren, son-in-law, daughters and sisters-in-law , spiritual adopted nephews and nieces, Crystal Shayna, Enrique and Natasha. Preceded in death by parents, six siblings, in-laws and nephews. Also survived by a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. James Baptist Church, Gibson, LA. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM. Wake service at Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home 1615 St. Philip St. on Friday September 21, 2018 5:00 -8:00 PM. Pastor Larry O. Thomas, Spain St. Church of God In Christ will officiate. Interment St. James Baptist Church Cemetery, Gibson, LA.
