Shanta Mia McElveen Duncan transitioned peacefully on Friday, October 12, 2018 at age 39. Shanta was born June 14, 1979 to Donna J. Baker and Thaddeus McElveen. She spent the early years of her life in New Orleans, LA and was baptized at an early age at Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She attended school in New Orleans and eventually moved with her parents to St. Bernard Parish where she graduated from Andrew Jackson Fundamental Magnet High School in 1997. Shanta also attended and completed a Medical Assistant program in Baton Rouge, LA. Shanta met and married Aaron Lamont Duncan, Sr. January 14, 2000 and shortly after moved to St. Louis, MO where they lived and worked for approximately 9 years between 2000 and 2017. This union produced one son, Aaron Lamont Duncan, Jr., currently a senior in high school, set to graduate in May and attend Grambling University in the fall of 2019. Shanta and her family later moved to Biloxi, MS for her husbands job promotion. A host of family, friends and loved ones will always keep their individual, treasured memories of Shanta in their hearts forever. Thanks to everyone for your love, prayers, words of encouragement and support. A Funeral will be held at Christian Fellowship Family Worship Center, 5816 E. Judge Perez Drive, Violet LA on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 AM with visitation beginning at 9 AM IN THE CHURCH. Interment First Baptist Church Cemetery, Verrett LA. A Visitation will also be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Christian Fellowship Family Worship Center from 5 PM until 7 PM.
