Elizabeth Thornton Green entered into eternal rest on January 28, 2018, at the age of 87. She as born on April 19,1930, in Bains, Louisiana to the union of the late Alice Turnbull and Dudley Thorton. Beloved wife of the late Shepard P. Green, Sr. Mother of Shepard P. Green, Jr. (La Tora), Sandra G. Thomas (the late Joseph), and Karen G. Rasheed (Najee). Grandmother of Monique Green, Jeremy Robertson, Winand, Elizabeth, Alice, Shepard, Julia Thomas, Fareed Rasheed, and Bella Green. Great-grandmother of Jeremy Jr. and Jacorian Robertson. She is survived by a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Green graduated from McDonough 35 College Preparatory High School and Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a retired Registered Nurse who served for 51 years and was an active member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority. She obtained a certificate of real estate at Tulane University and a Bachelor of Science at Our Lady of Holy Cross College. After retiring as head nurse intensive care unit at the New Orleans VA Medical Center, she continued to work as RN at Lockheed Martin (Marietta) Aerospace, Southern University New Orleans, and Director of Nursing John J. Hankiel, Jr. Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her sister Dr. Mary Thornton Phillips. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Gabriel Church located at 4700 Pineda St., New Orleans, La. 70126 Interment Greenwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 5242 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA. 70124.
