Matthew Robert Johnson, Jr. "Chinee," a native of New Orleans, LA transitioned into eternal life on July 21, 2018 at the age of 76. He was the dedicated father of Matthew R. Johnson III (Cheryl), Soulan Johnson, Sonya Johnson Collins, Sezanne Coffee (Steven) and Satacha Johnson; loving grandfather of Katlyn Dawson, Dylan Collins, Nyah Johnson, Dallas Collins and Steven Coffee, II; brother-in-law of Joyce Raphael (John Sr.), Barbara Johnson, Pamela McKenzie (Stan), Carol Butler (Charles) and Ronald Gaspard; brother/friend of Gail and Donald Batiste. He will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Vera Johnson Alindoa of New Orleans, LA and Irenio Alindoa of Manilla, Philippines; his devoted wife Ivona Ketchens Johnson; brothers Clarence Solmon, Jr. and Irenio Johnson, Sr; sisters-in-law Carmen Thomas, Deanna Gaspard, Cynthia Ketchens Songy, Jacqueline Gasper and brother-in-law Donald Thomas. Relatives and friends of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 6119, Saint Augustine and Xavier Prep High Schools and Jacobs/CSRS are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at at Charbonnet Family Services, 9200 I-10 Service Road, New Orleans, LA 70128, on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Visitation begins at 9:00 A.M. Interment , Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantam College Road, Slidell, LA, 70460, Monday, July 30, 2018, at 9:00 A.M.
